I was trying to capture the Asian dynamism in how they go about Ecosystem designs for their businesses.
The critical captures for me are based on three critical aspects to create this dynamism.
Firstly, in the social conditions within Asia and China for especially smart technology-led connected solutions.
Secondly, the ability of the solution provider in having the capabilities to push the boundaries, in regulatory change and technology innovations, and ‘impose’ radically different structures along the complete supply chain and have as their central focus the customer engagement processes, that delivers the solution needed in the quickest possible time, at the most economical and convenient cost, at increasing scale to drive down costs.
Thirdly having that significant engagement at the top of the organizations, in designing, directing and determining the outcomes and injecting the enthusiasm, drive, and passion for change and commitment.
I believe these three aspects are creating more dynamic ecosystem environments in Asia and especially China.
In Asia, it is a far more top-down but highly entrepreneurial mindset for those that have broken through and built real scale and really very big businesses on their platforms with the excellent technology and a sharp-minded approach to connecting up the ecosystem within the design and solutions.
Just take a look at some of the examples mentioned below in this map. Really impressive in how they have tackled business design through technology and platform design.
We really have been seeing emerging from China, especially some amazing platform-based Business Models, that are changing the landscape of how we manage a business. The Asian company seems able to advance the learning of digital platform business models in their performance, their ability to scale fast, and to simply create and capture the value that a customer wants, something that is seamless, fully connected up and working with an ecosystem design. It gives the customer what they want.
Here in the West, we have extremely strong alternatives from the likes of Amazon for a connected model but when you look at many other successful platform providers (Airbnb or Uber and even Facebook) they seem to have been trapped or specifically designed for a narrower, more vertical business model approach. The ones that take a horizontal and vertical approach, like Amazon or Alibaba are so holistic in their ecosystem design.
The regulatory environment in Asia might be more conducive for cutting across industry sectors and this has partly constrained the approaches as the successful Chinese companies have been expanding around the world. China is a very protectionist market that helps the insider but different practices here in the West, designed to protect the consumer and enable fair practice are slowly breaking down under the creative onslaught of these Asian digital triggers.
I continue to capture this ecosystem dynamism. I have tried to show the essential points I have seen as different within this mind map. Their ecosystem approach, the social conditions, and the business focus I have tried to pick out the differences I have seen.
I continue to capture this ecosystem dynamism that is coming from the East, will it have the same success in Western markets? It seems the management style and social conditions occurring in Asia allows for validating business transformation models better as they are more adaptable and dextrous, on exploiting technology and quickly learning from it.
They constantly look to advance in technology and service response and offerings, to make continued improvements and push constantly for ever-increasing levels of engagements for their customers. They do see a connected business really differently, it seems.
The Asian character is seemingly more restless and ambitious to experiment with new exciting business models that is for sure.
